Tunisia

Tunisia, while still a relatively new golfing destination is fast becoming a must visit for UK golfers. It has a great all year round climate and provides ideal golfing conditions no matter when you travel so it does make for an excellent winter golf destination. The area is still relatively undiscovered so tee times are more readily available than some of the other traditional areas and is still only a short flight from the UK. A brilliant mix of East and West there are some fantastic Championship courses as well as several old walled medina’s for those who want to explore some of Tunisia’s rich Roman heritage.

The local currency in Tunisia is Tunisian Dinars and with pound worth 2.12 Tunisian Dinars you might find it difficult to spend your money! When you arrive in Tunisia there are two main tourist areas, Hammamet, and Port El Kantaoui each with a good mix of great value golf courses and a wide range of accommodation to choose from.

Port El Kantaoui

El Kantaoui is probably the most popular of the two main golfing centres, close to Sousse and Monastir it is a purpose built resort with plenty to offer. At the heart of Port El Kantaoui, as its name suggests, is the marina were you will find many bars and restaurants to enjoy while you’re not on the areas golf course. The 36 hole El Kantaoui course is not to be missed and is only a 2 minute taxi ride from the area’s hotels, and the Flamingo and Palm links courses in nearby Monastir are well worth the short transfer. Port El Kantaoui offers great value for money especially the all inclusive Riu Green Park.

Hammamet

The town of Hammamet is about an hour’s drive from Port El Kantaoui and is centred around a beautiful old medina which overlooks the sea. The town’s centre is a lively mix of bars and restaurants that are not to be missed and you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to great value accommodation. The newly refurbished Sindbad hotel is only a short distance from the centre of Hammamet and its location on the beach front offers an ideal place to relax. The hotels in Hammamet have a close relationship with golf Citrus with a number of them shareholders in the golf complex. These hotels offer a courtesy transfer to the two courses at Golf Citrus and the impressive Yasmine Course is also only a short drive away.
